Welcome to The Why ("the App," "we," "us"). By using the App you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Who Can Use the App

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account and use the App. If you use the Kids mode features, you must be a parent or legal guardian providing it to your child.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us at rogersmi87@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the App to:

Violate any law or the rights of others
Submit content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or sexually explicit
Reverse engineer, scrape, or circumvent rate limits or access controls
Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit AI-generated responses

4. Subscriptions and Payment

The Why Pro is a paid subscription managed through Apple App Store or Google Play. Subscriptions auto-renew until canceled in your device's subscription settings. Refunds are subject to Apple's and Google's policies; we do not process refunds directly.

5. AI-Generated Content

Debate responses, evaluator feedback, model answers, and similar text in the App are generated by AI models (currently Anthropic's Claude). AI output may contain inaccuracies. We provide it for training and educational purposes; it is not theological, legal, medical, or financial advice. You are responsible for evaluating its correctness before relying on it.

The doctrinal framing of generated content reflects historic Christian orthodoxy with a Reformed/evangelical lean. The App is not a substitute for pastoral counsel, your local church, or formal theological study.

6. User Submissions

By submitting responses, prompts, or feedback to the App, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that content to operate, improve, and provide the App's services. We do not claim ownership of your content.

7. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, prompts, and curated content, is owned by The Why and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You receive a personal, non-transferable license to use the App in accordance with these Terms.

8. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI-GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE THEOLOGICALLY OR FACTUALLY CORRECT.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE APP IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time for violation of these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time and request account deletion at rogersmi87@gmail.com.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
